Colony News

11/16/2017

Brothers,

It is once again time for an OK Beta colony update.

MEMBERSHIP
Last week we were at 60 young leaders; however, one of our members has chosen to drop out of school for two years and commit a two-year mission to his church. We now stand at 59 Colony Members...but have very strong and immediate potential new Members (one of these is a legacy associated with Texas Zeta.

CAMPUS ACTIVITY

While the Pokes had a heartbreaking loss at Bedlam contest, the colony Members had an excellent time. Our entire exec board and one girl of each of our choosing got to attend College Gameday in the morning as front row guests compliments of Coca Cola (pictured below). If you look back at the recording, you will see featured Phi Delt leaders for about 15 minutes out of the total GAME DAY hour.

GREEK ACTIVITIES

The Phi Delts hosted a recent coke date. Our young men had an amazing time roasting marshmallows with the women of Chi Omega (pictured below). This went exceptionally well all thanks to our social chair, Blake Kaaihue. Well developed fire pits, trucks with blankets pulled up for seating, hay bails for seating, games, great tunes and s'mores were involved. We received great feedback! Several Chi Omegas told multiple Phi Delt representatives this was the best coke date they had ever taken part in during her three years at OSU. The president of Chi-O messaged a few of our men stating all the girls were so happy and still talking about it! It's great to see our guys making these kinds of positive impressions and establishing win/win relationships.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

With this week being about the veterans, our young leaders thought it would be a good idea to show Phi Delta Theta support. To show respect for our troops, green lights were installed on our porch and kept it glowing for the entire week. Our young men are thoughtful, strategic and creative - it is being recognized across campus and the Stillwater community.

HOMECOMING

I believe I mentioned before OK Beta had a successful exotic petting zoo during Friday Night Walk-Around of 2017 OSU Homecoming. The photo shows 'Mama Deb' (House Parent Debbie Clemons) holding a beautiful seven foot albino African Python.

LEADERSHIP

Finally, Joe Passanise, OK Beta's Province President, visited the house this last Monday. Joe was VERY impressed with our facility, our programs, our young men and the active leadership (he attended both Formal Dinner and Chapter).  Joe's speech was impactful and inspiring; he reminded the young men that he would personally endorse OK Beta to be re-instated pending grades and Membership goal. Joe stated "I will be in Stillwater this Spring and look forward to joining you as Brothers in the greatest of all fraternal organizations".

I look forward to seeing you soon; the doors at 224 S. Monroe are always open to you and your families. Please drop in anytime and meet our impressive young leaders, review excellent programs/platforms and walk through a dramatically improved and beautifully remodeled facility.

Yours in the Bond,

Craig Clemons - Alumni Club President
