Hello Gentlemen,

My name is David Niska, most of you do not know me, but I am the new in house Alumni Relations Officer for the colony of Phi Delta Theta Oklahoma Beta.  I am a junior at OSU majoring in Accounting and Finance with a Minor in Management Information Systems.  As part of my duties as Alumni Relations Chair, I will be writing and sending out our weekly newsletters to keep everybody up to date on all of the exciting activities that are constantly going on within the colony.  Now that we are three weeks into the spring semester, we have a lot of updates.

Since the start of this semester we have already signed two new members, Devin Medrano and Nick Elder, to this great colony.  Devin served in the army and worked his way up to Sergeant status, and Nick is a sophomore from California who loves the outdoors.  At the bottom of the newsletter is a picture of both Devin and Nick.  As usual we only sign the best young men, so these two gentlemen are a great addition to the colony.  With our two new signee’s, and the several bids that are going out to potential new members, we should be well on our way to reach our goal of 70 men.  Before the semester began we had over 15 new guys move into the house, and we now have guys living on both the second and third floor.  It has been really exciting seeing the house starting to fill up with new guys!  Our recruitment chairs have done a great job planning workshops and recruiting events to draw in more men.  This weekend is the Super Bowl and we have a big watch party planned for the event.  We have several guys going around on campus signing students up to come watch the game, and we have over a hundred potential new members that have signed up to come.  Along with that, we even have Raising Canes catering the event.  Considering our last watch party was a great success, we are really looking forward to this one.

Many of you know that in order for us to become a chapter, one of the biggest requirements that we needed to finish was our petition.  I am glad to say that the petition is finally finished!  All of the officers have put a lot of time into creating this document, and the final version is well over 400 pgs.  We will soon be sending it to the general headquarters for them to review and give us the okay.

We held a few more elections at our last chapter meeting on Monday.  We elected 4 new members for our Judicial Board, and they will do a great job seeing that everyone is being the best version of himself.  We also elected a new House Manager, Christian Spears, and he is doing a great job making sure that everything is running efficiently in the house.  He has even turned cleaning the house into a fun brotherhood event, which trust me, is hard to do.  Everyone who was voted into an officer position from last year is doing an awesome job in their respective roles.  Speaking of brotherhood, our Brotherhood Officer, Dylan Fox, has planned an outing for the colony to go paintballing at a course in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  It will be a very fun and much needed get away from Stillwater, and I know everyone is really looking forward to it.

This past week we had two members voted Phis of the week.  Those two gentlemen are Chris Schutza and Matthew Smith.  Both of these guys put a lot of time into making Phi Delt Theta a better fraternity, and they always do it with a smile.  What’s even more impressive is that they do a lot of work in Phi Delta, but still managed to get 4.0 GPA for the fall semester!  There were several other members along with Chris and Matthew that got 4.0’s such as our president, Sam Streck.  This just shows a small sample of the caliber of men that we have in this great fraternity.

This semester we have two big community service projects that we will be involved in.  We are scheduled to work with Habitat for Humanity in February and in March to help build homes for people in need.  Last semester we worked with Habitat, and everyone who participated had a great time and are really looking forward to doing it again!

It is a pleasure keeping our alumni up-to-date, and I am really looking forward to writing to everyone every week!  If you ever have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to email me or call me!

Your Alumni Relations Officer,

David Niska
